New Law Targets AI in Healthcare
California Governor Gavin Newsom signed a package of bills, creating new regulations for specific applications of artificial intelligence. One of the key pieces of legislation, Assembly Bill 489, makes it illegal for AI systems and chatbots to misrepresent themselves as licensed medical professionals. The bill was sponsored by the California Medical Association (CMA).
