While enterprise adoption of generative AI for tasks like content creation is surging, a new report highlights deep-seated executive hesitation toward more autonomous systems. A PYMNTS Intelligence report published on Aug. 15, 2025, found that while familiarity with agentic AI is nearly universal among Chief Financial Officers, only 15% are considering deploying the technology.
Agentic AI refers to systems that can autonomously make decisions and execute multi-step tasks without direct human intervention. The report, which surveyed 60 enterprise CFOs in May, reveals a significant trust gap for these advanced systems in high-stakes corporate functions.
