HHS Doubles Funding for AI-Backed Childhood Cancer Research

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced on Sep 30, 2025, that it was doubling the funding for its Childhood Cancer Data Initiative to $100 million. The initiative, which is run by the National Cancer Institute, will use the funds to apply advanced artificial intelligence to analyze large datasets and accelerate the development of new treatments.
“We will harness American innovation in artificial intelligence to find cures for pediatric cancer,” said HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. at a White House event.
