A Bet on Open Source and Diversification
IBM and AMD on Oct. 1, 2025, announced a multi-year agreement to provide the open-source AI lab Zyphra with a large-scale AI training cluster on IBM Cloud. The collaboration will create one of the largest training clusters to date powered by AMD's Instinct MI300X GPUs. The deal represents a significant strategic bet on diversifying the AI hardware ecosystem and supporting the open-source model movement.
