Intel announced a new data center graphics processing unit, code-named 'Crescent Island,' designed specifically for artificial intelligence inference workloads. The announcement, made at the 2025 OCP Global Summit, is part of a renewed push by the company to compete in the fast-growing AI accelerator market dominated by rivals NVIDIA and AMD.
