In a rare display of industry unity, the Linux Foundation announced the formation of the Agentic AI Foundation (AAIF). This new initiative brings together fierce competitors -- including Amazon Web Services, Google, Microsoft, OpenAI, and Anthropic -- to establish open governance for the rapidly evolving "agentic" artificial intelligence sector. The foundation aims to solve the fragmentation problem currently plaguing autonomous AI, where agents from different providers struggle to communicate or share tools effectively. By placing these core protocols under neutral stewardship, the founding members are effectively commoditizing the infrastructure layer to prevent vendor lock-in.
