North Carolina and Texas Launch State-Level AI Governance Boards
Both states took concrete steps to create new councils and appoint members for AI oversight.
North Carolina's Inaugural Meeting
The North Carolina AI Leadership Council convened its inaugural meeting. The council was established by Governor Josh Stein's Executive Order 24, which was signed in September 2025.
The council brings together nearly 30 public and private sector experts. The governor's office said the group's goal is to make North Carolina the "most AI-literate state in the nation."
North Carolina's Mandate
