OpenAI announced a major expansion of its "Stargate" AI infrastructure platform on September 23, 2025, adding five new data center sites across the United States. The new sites, developed in partnership with Oracle and SoftBank, bring the project's total planned capacity to nearly 7 gigawatts. This represents a cumulative investment of over $400 billion over the next three years.
