A New "Innovation Engine"
The Pentagon on Aug. 15, 2025, ordered a major strategic realignment of its Chief Digital and AI Office (CDAO). According to a memo from Deputy Secretary of Defense Stephen Feinberg, the CDAO will now report to the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering. The move is designed to "create a powerful innovation engine that can deliver AI superiority from laboratory to battlefield."
